FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:  Why is hosting a Public Foaling Camera with MyHorseCam.com FREE of any charges?

A: We are our customers.  Many of us here at MyHorseCam.com have Mares that Foal every year.  Being a Horse Breeder isn’t easy nor is it cheap.  We believe in a different kind of foal cam hosting company.  One that supports the Horse Breeder by supplying them a way to Market their horses in supplying Live Foal Cam Streams at no charge and also we our Ranches will earn money with their cam because our Advertisers pay per page view to advertise their products.  In essence, instead of paying to put your cam online, we pay you.  We understand.  We are our customers.

Q:  Why choose MyHorseCam.com instead of one of our competitors?

A:  There are many Customer Service related reasons as to why our customers like MyHorseCam.com.  But, it really comes down, to what does MyHorseCam.com offer versus our competitors.  Our competitors use a Streaming Platform called Umedia.  We have a contract with Umedia that allows only MyHorseCam.com software and hardware upgrades since the beginning of 2007.  What this means is that our competitors are running old software and cannot upgrade to the new Version(s).  We have taken steps to ensure that MyHorseCam.com has both the best Customer Service and also the most technologically advanced Horse Streaming Company.  Our customers benefit because of this.

Q:  What Streaming Platforms do you support?

A:  We stream using Umedia, Windows and Flash.

Q:  Do I need to use your cameras or can I use my existing?

A:  You do not need to purchase equipment from us.  You can use your existing equipment.

Q:  How do I get my existing camera online?

A:  Many of our customers have existing equipment, but do not know how to get their camera online.  If you have an existing, what you need is to purchase a Video Capture Device that plugs into your computer and then the computer needs to have an Internet Connection.  You then just visit our website and follow the online instructions.

Q:  What is a Video Capture Device (VCD)?

A:  A VCD is a Device that either is an Internal or External Device that plugs into your computer and then you plug your camera wire into that device.  An External VCD simply just plugs into your USB port on your computer.  And an Internal VCD just plugs into one of your PCI slots inside your Desktop Computer.  Both of these devices convert your CCTV camera images into a language that the computer understands and this is what we stream over the Internet for you.  We sell both of these options for you and it is easy, secure and convenient to shop online.

Q:  How do we make money with our Foal Cams?

A:  Our advertisers pay to advertise inside our cam streams.  They pay dollars for every 1000 Page Views.  We keep track of each and individual customers page views and based on their percentage of page views for the month our customers receive a check from MyHorseCam.com for their percentage.  This payment system is being developed now and will be implemented in June.

Q:  If I sit and watch my own cameras, do I get paid for those page views?

A:  No.  We have a very complicated system in place to ensure that there isn’t any Page Views counted for the Ranch that is streaming the cam.  For instance, if a customer were to sit in front of their computer and click 1000 page views on their camera in a day, their IP is logged and they are not paid for those page views.  IP’s are always logged and checked for false Page Views.  This helps all of our Ranches to make sure that they are being treated honestly and fairly.

Q:  Do I need a website?

A:  No.  It does help however, if your intention is to make money with your Foal Cams.

Q:  Will you build me a website?

A:  Yes.  Please send an email using our Contact Us Form.

Q:  Why can’t I see my camera or other cameras from my computer?

Q:  What if I have more than one camera?

A:  Our software will automatically detect how many cameras are hooked to your computer and you will have the option to setup a stream for each one.
